What limitations does the SQL4automation demo version have?
The demo version offers full functionality, ideal for testing the PLC-database connection. After 2 hours, the Connector closes all connections, but can be restarted as many times as needed. Activation is done via the menu entry "License, Activate Test License" in the Config Tool.
Which SQL4automation license do I need for my PLC-database connection?
The required license depends on the number of parallel connections ("Links"):
Light License: Connect 1 PLC with 1 database.
Standard License: 1-10 Links.
Ultimate License: 10+ Links, expandable in increments of 10.
Why do I need more than 1 link?
Multiple links enable parallel database access from multiple PLC instances or controllers:
Multiple function blocks in one controller. Your controller can call multiple instances of the SQL4automation function block. This enables parallel database queries. One instance might spontaneously write error messages via Link 1, while another instance reads current production data via Link 2. This eliminates the need for programmatic synchronization.
Multiple controllers in a system can communicate separately – a dedicated link can be reserved for each PLC.
How does hardware licensing with USB dongle work?
Nachdem Sie Ihre Lizenz (Light, Standard, Ultimate) bestellt haben, erhalten Sie per Post einen USB-Hardware-Key mit der Lizenz zu. Mit eingestecktem Key läuft der Connector unbeschränkt. Auch nach einem Hardwaretausch benutzen Sie die Lizenz auf dem USB-Key einfach weiter, deshalb empfehlen wir Ihnen die Hardware-Lizenz.
Wie funktioniert die Software-Lizenzierung ohne USB-Dongle?
Im Config-Tool finden Sie im Menü „License" den Punkt „Get Hardware Fingerprint". Generieren Sie damit eine Request-Key-Datei (*.c2v) und mailen Sie diese an info@sql4automation.com, verbunden mit der Angabe, welche Lizenz Sie benötigen (Light, Standard, Ultimate). Sie erhalten dann von uns die Rechnung und nach der Bezahlung per E-Mail eine License-Key-Datei (*.v2c). Diese aktivieren Sie im Menü „License" unter „Insert License Key". Danach ist der Connector lizenziert und läuft unbeschränkt. Nach einem Hardwaretausch wird die Software-Lizenz womöglich nicht mehr funktionieren. Aus diesem Grund empfehlen wir eine Software-Lizenz nur einzusetzen, wenn es unmöglich ist eine Hardware-Lizenz zu benutzen.
